Aaron Rodgers has been considered the top target for the Jets in their search this offseason for a veteran quarterback. One of the biggest questions before that could happen would be whether Rodgers wants to stay in Green Bay or play elsewhere. Well, if a recent report from longtime Packers beat writer Bob McGinn is true, the Packers may have made that decision for him.

Appearing on the Go Long podcast with Tyler Dunne, McGinn reports the Packers are “done” with Rodgers and they are confident in and ready to hand the reigns over to Jordan Love.

“He’s not coming back,” McGinn said. “I mean, they’re disgusted with him, and they’re done with him. And they’re moving on.”

That would make it seem like it would be easier for the Jets or another team to make a trade for Rodgers, one would think. Will that also help drop the price the Jets would have to pay in a trade, knowing the Packers are seemingly ready to ship him out? Time will tell.

While the Jets are expected to be in on Rodgers, they will be doing their homework on former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr. He is visiting the Jets this weekend as Carr visits his second team this month as he also talked to the Saints before deciding not to accept any trade. The Raiders released Carr this week. He is now free to sign with any team at any time. He does not have to wait until the start of the league year as he was released rather than having his contract expire.

It will certainly be interesting to see how the Jets attack this weekend with Carr and if they actually go through and make an offer to bring him in and get the early jump on their offseason.
