Further testing confirms the worst for New York Jets’ Chuck Clark

Chuck Clark’s first season with the New York Jets has officially come to an end.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed today that Clark tore his ACL and is done for the season.

Further testing confirmed that Jets’ safety Chuck Clark suffered a season-ending torn ACL during practice earlier this month, per sources. Jets signed veteran safety Adrian Amos after Clark got hurt.

Earlier in June, news surfaced that Clark was believed to have suffered a serious knee injury. After getting a second opinion, it was concluded that he tore his ACL and is done for the season.

Clark, 28, was a sixth-round pick out of Virginia Tech in 2017. Before being traded to the Jets, Clark had never missed a game due to injury across six seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. In fact, Clark held the longest active “iron man” streak among defenders, playing 1,248 consecutive snaps dating back to Week 16 of the 2021 season.

The Jets traded a seventh-round pick for Clark on March 15, just before free agency. Clark was a versatile starting safety for the Ravens but became expendable after signing Marcus Williams and drafting Kyle Hamilton. He asked for a trade during the 2022 season and Baltimore honored his request after the year.

Following the injury to Clark, the Jets pivoted by signing safety Adrian Amos to a one-year, $1.75 million contract that is worth up to $4 million with incentives. Amos played with the Green Bay Packers for the last four years and spent four seasons with the Chicago Bears before that.

The Jets’ safety room now includes Amos, Jordan Whitehead, Tony Adams, Ashtyn Davis, and undrafted free agents Trey Dean and Marquis Waters.
