The New York Jets and Dalvin Cook have finally agreed on a contract
The long, drawn-out saga is over: free agent running back Dalvin Cook is joining the New York Jets.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Cook is signing with the Jets on a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero adds that the majority of the deal is guaranteed.

Cook, who turned 28 years old last week, has made the Pro Bowl in four consecutive seasons. Last season for the Minnesota Vikings, Cook ran 264 times for 1,173 yards and eight touchdowns while catching 39 passes for 295 yards and two touchdowns. Cook played a full season for the first time in his career, playing in all 17 games.
Cook joins a Jets backfield that is led by Breece Hall but awaits a resolution on when Hall will be healthy and ready to play. Hall, still recovering from ACL surgery, is yet to return to practice. The Jets are optimistic Hall will be ready for Week 1, but time will tell.
In the meantime, Cook presumably slides in as the Jets’ top running back ahead of Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight, Israel Abanikanda, Travis Dye, and Damarea Crockett.
