Arrest warrant issued for former NY Jets first-round pick

Former New York Jets linebacker Darron Lee has been issued an arrest warrant stemming from an incident in April

Reports from ABC 6 have stated that an arrest warrant has been issued for former New York Jets first-round pick Darron Lee after he missed his court date stemming from domestic violence and assault charges that were filed this past April.

The former NFL linebacker was accused of beating his mother and the mother of his son in Dublin, Ohio in April. Lee’s mother reported that her son had punched her in the head “eight to nine times.”

As it turns out, while police were investigating this incident, they found another allegation involving the former Ohio State standout from October 2022. That incident involved Lee and the mother of his child due to the belief that the woman was cheating on him.

Per court records cited by WBNS, Lee had thrown a phone at the woman “which struck her head, causing her ear to bleed.” The former NFL player then allegedly “grabbed her neck while punching the pillow beside her head, causing red marks to her neck.”

Lee was a standout player at Ohio State University and a member of the team’s championship team in 2014 under former Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer. He was selected by the Jets with the 20th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. Lee appeared in 40 games for the team, compiling 241 tackles, four sacks, and three interceptions throughout three seasons.

In December 2018, Lee was suspended four games for taking performance-enhancing drugs. He would later be traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 for a sixth-round pick after the Jets declined his fifth-year option.

Lee would later play for the Buffalo Bills and the Las Vegas Raiders. He has not been on an NFL roster since he was released by the Raiders on August 30, 2021.
