A clear favorite is emerging for the New York Jets at No. 13
With the NFL draft now only three days away, rumors are starting to spread throughout the league like wildfire.
Regarding the New York Jets, the biggest story this week will be the Aaron Rodgers trade discussions. On Sunday, NFL Network reported New York and Green Bay have recently re-engaged and that a deal could be completed this week.
However, the Rodgers trade is far from the only hot topic in Jets land right now. There are also plenty of reports flying around about what the Jets are planning to do with the 13th overall pick in the first round of the draft, which seems unlikely to be sent to Green Bay in the Rodgers trade.
Many of these reports are in agreement on who the Jets are likely to target with that No. 13 selection: Georgia offensive tackle Broderick Jones.
ESPN’s Rich Cimini reports he is hearing Jones is the “most likely” pick, based primarily on the belief that fellow tackle prospect Paris Johnson Jr. will not be available.
Three days to go + here’s what I’m hearing: Most likely pick for #Jets at 13 is OT Broderick Jones. Based on belief that OT Paris Johnson, Jr. will be gone. If Johnson, Jones + Peter Skoronski are gone, could be OT Darnell Wright or trade down. Not buying Jaxon Smith-Njigba buzz

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer is hearing similar things to Cimini. On Monday, Breer reported he is hearing “everyone seems to have their eye on a tackle going [at No.13]”, mentioning Jones as the first option. Breer also says Tennessee’s Darnell Wright could be in play.
It’s important to remember that these pre-draft rumblings should be taken with a grain of salt. Remember, around this time one year ago, there were reports that claimed the Jets would not draft a cornerback with either of their two first-round picks. Lo and behold, the Jets drafted Sauce Gardner with the fourth pick, and it’s safe to say they were satisfied with the results.
