NY Jets HC Robert Saleh on Buffalo: “We’ll see them again”

The Jets believe they will play postseason football this season

The past two games have yielded two heart-breaking losses for the New York Jets. Despite a decisive 6-3 record at the bye, the team has gone 1-3 coming out the other side.

With that being said, head coach Robert Saleh remains optimistic. To go even further, he’s predicted a playoff run for his team this season.

“We’re going to see these guys again,” Saleh said at the post-game press conference at Buffalo. The Jets went down to the wire with their division rivals, losing 20-12 on the road.

Saleh didn’t stop there. “I just have so much faith in everybody. I know we’ve got four big-time opponents coming up … but I’ve just got faith in our group.”

This is the first time Saleh has committed verbally to playoffs. He shared great optimism for his squad even after back-to-back defeats. Still, the Jets have a path to the playoffs, though the Buffalo loss likely put their division hopes to bed.

Now, if Saleh is correct, how would the Jets meet the Bills once more in the playoffs?

First, the Jets will likely have to win at least two of their last four games.

• vs Lions (6-7)
• vs Jaguars (5-8)
• at Seahawks (7-5, pending week 14)
• at Dolphins (8-4, pending week 14)

If Buffalo holds on to the division, the Jets will need at least one playoff win to square off in the divisional round or conference championship. Otherwise, they could both meet in a wild-card matchup.

Many questions remain about the Jets down the stretch. Injuries to quarterback Mike White and superstar defensive tackle Quinnen Williams in Sunday’s game mean playoffs are by no means guaranteed for this team.

Regardless, Saleh and the Jets will continue to fight to end the 11-year drought that looms large.
