Per the man himself, Odell Beckham Jr. is set for an in-person meeting with the New York Jets

On Saturday afternoon, ESPN’s Josina Anderson reported that she was told by Odell Beckham Jr. himself that he is planning to fly into the New York area to meet with the New York Jets on Monday.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added more details. Rapoport says that the Jets are not only planning to give Beckham a physical, but they will also have a “thorough discussion” of what Beckham’s role will be in an Aaron Rodgers-led offense that features a deep lineup of wide receivers. Rapoport says a “big point of discussion” will be how everything would fit together with Beckham involved.

Beckham and the Jets have been closely linked for weeks at this point. The rumors heated up when Beckham was listed as one of the players on Aaron Rodgers‘ supposed “wish list”, although Rodgers later debunked the idea that he created a wish list.

However, Rodgers and Beckham are good friends, and Rodgers did offer a bit of excitement about the idea of playing with Beckham on The Pat McAfee Show, saying, “Who wouldn’t want Odell on their team?”

More reports have followed throughout the ensuing weeks that the Jets are indeed interested in signing Beckham. General manager Joe Douglas confirmed this at the NFL’s league meetings in Arizona, saying he and the Jets have had conversations with Beckham’s agent.

Beckham and his agent surprisingly appeared at the league meetings, as Beckham makes his offseason home in Arizona. He was not only seen chatting with the Jets’ brass, but he was also seen hugging Jets head coach Robert Saleh.

Beckham, 30, has not played since he tore his ACL in the Rams’ eventual Super Bowl win over the Bengals in February 2022. It was a bittersweet ending to a fantastic playoff run where he amassed 21 catches for 288 yards and two touchdowns in three-and-a-half games, showing glimpses of the talent that made him a superstar.

The Jets have already made substantial changes to their wide receiver unit this offseason. They parted ways with two mainstays from the past couple of seasons, trading Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns and releasing Braxton Berrios. In turn, they signed Allen Lazard and Mecole Hardman.

Beckham would be the icing on the cake of a massive overhaul for New York’s pass-catching weaponry.
