New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft joked about the New York Jets
The start of the 2023 NFL season is months away, yet the New York Jets‘ rivalry with the New England Patriots rivalry is already in full swing.
The World Cup is coming to Boston, Massachusetts in 2026. Making an appearance during the unveiling of Boston’s official World Cup logo was none other than Patriots owner Robert Kraft. Kraft spoke about the many positives the World Cup could bring to the community – and he also took a shot at the Jets in the process.
“The world we’re living in now, we need the World Cup more than ever,” Kraft said. “Because seeing different communities from different parts of the world gather together and celebrate and really be excited in a way — I guess only when the Patriots are kicking butt against the Jets, that’s the same feeling.”
Kraft has the right to boast. The Jets and Patriots have played each other 128 total times and New England has a comfortable advantage over New York, winning 73 games compared to the Jets’ 54 (with one tie). Most of those wins by the Patriots have come with Kraft as owner of the team.
Since purchasing the Patriots in January 1994, the Jets have a 15-43 record against their division rival – with most of those losses coming at the hands of Tom Brady. Yet even in the three years since Brady left New England, the Patriots hold a 6-0 record over New York.
This year, the Jets have future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers under center. Far removed (it seems) are the days of Adam Gase and an inexperienced Zach Wilson. While the Jets cannot dramatically cut into their all-time win-loss deficit during Rodgers’ run at quarterback, they certainly have an edge against their division foe for the foreseeable future.
