POLL: Which Texans Draft Pick Will Have The Best 2021?
Surely at least one of them can make some highlight reel plays
Here we are in the weirdest of off-seasons, shrouded in the specter of a post-COVID-19 world, wrapped in the clutches of Jack Easterby’s pro sports equivalent to a suicide pact, pulled along in the wake of some of the worst, franchise altering decisions an NFL team has ever made in a short time span.
And, it’s here and now that five young men had their dreams of reaching the NFL come true.
This has all the makings of a Greek tragedy.
A beleaguered organization rotting from within. Beloved superstar falls from grace. Fresh, young protagonists enter an uncertain future. All signs pointing to disaster on the malfunction junction that is the 2021 Houston Texans.
But, in the darkest of times lies the launchpad from whence new heroes rise.
Will it be Davis Mills, polarizing quarterback some say was the steal of the draft while others dubbed him the worst possible pick for Houston?
How about Nico Collins? The man-among-boys sized wide out with the wingspan of a bald eagle.
Maybe Brevin Jordan, the next Kahale Warring on the roster, will rise up and grab the brass ring. He’s loved by the unknown, what more could one ask for at the onset of a glorious career?
Garret Wallow, defender of the middle, will certainly put his name in the hat for defensive rookie of the year. Whether anyone else agrees remains to be seen. And, this Highlander only has 117 other linebackers on the roster to beat out – there can be only one.
Finally, Roy Lopez arrives to cement the center of the defensive line. With last year’s pick of Ross Blacklock seemingly wasted, at least by J.J. Watt’s standards, Lopez has opportunity ahead and a meeting with Derrick Henry on the docket.

Now it’s time to cast your vote for Houston Texans Draftee of the Year, 2021. Prematurely, that is.
